Michael Hahn is a research assistant at the Chair of Systematic Theology II (Ethics), Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg. From 2016 to 2023, he studied Protestant theology in Erlangen, Montpellier (France) and Tübingen. He was awarded the Fritz und Maria Hofmann-Award 2024 for his thesis titled “Selbstbestimmung und Vulnerabilität des Datensubjekts. Theologisch-ethische Perspektiven” (Self-Determination and Vulnerability of the Data Subject: Theological-ethical Perspectives).

From late 2023 to late 2025, he worked in the BMBF-funded project PRIMA-AI (“Prospectively Investigating the Impact of AI on Shared Decision Making in Post-Kidney Transplant Care”), examining the effects of the use of AI-driven decision support systems on the relationship between physicians and patients as well as on shared decision making. Since mid 2025, he has been working in the DFG-funded CRC 1483 EmpkinS (“Empatho-Kinaesthetic Sensor Technology – Sensor Techniques and Data Analysis Methods for Empatho-Kinaesthetic Modeling and Condition monitoring”) and, since early 2026, in the BMFTR-funded project GeGe4Nephro on the ethical implications of digital technologies and AI in the healthcare sector.
